Michelle’s TOP 10 list you gotta try in LA (in no particular order)
1. Gyu kaku – delicious Japanese BBQ; look for their late night specials (after 9pm)
163 N La Cienega Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA - (310) 659-5760 - www.gyu-kaku.com
2. King Taco – same great taste as El Taurino, less wait
4300 E Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90023 - (323) 264-9051 - www.kingtaco.com
3. Sushi-Gen – Order their sashimi dinner. $29 gets you appetizer salads, miso soup, tempura, and a mixed sashimi dinner which always has the best tuna you’ve ever tasted. Lunch special is only $15 for the same great deal.
422 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA - (213) 617-0552
4. Asia de Cuba – Sits on the roof of the famous Mondrian Hotel. The ambience is romantic with its skyline view of LA, unfortunately the food is not as unforgettable. Nevertheless, a date here will undoubtedly win you points.
8440 W Sunset Blvd, West Hollywood, CA - (323) 848-6000
5. Daikokuya – the best Japanese ramen you will EVER taste
327 E 1st St, Los Angeles, CA - (213) 626-1680 - www.daikoku-ten.com
6. Golden Deli – for all you pho lovers out there
815 W. Las Tunas Dr., San Gabriel, CA - (626) 308-0803 - www.goldendelirestaurant.com
7. The Boiling Crab – New Orleans style seafood. Order the mixed special sauce and the corona beer and enjoy the fun and youthful atmosphere. My favorites are the crawfish and shrimp.
742 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA - (626) 576-9368 - www.theboilingcrab.com/
8. Redondo Beach – Order live crab or any kind of seafood imaginable and enjoy the beach. Pick any kind of fresh fish and have it grilled (yummy!) or fried. I like Oceanside Sea Food because you won’t have to fight for a table, but anywhere you go will be fresh.
100 Fishermans Wharf # F, Redondo Beach, CA - (310) 376-2244
9. Queen Mary – go here for the champagne brunch
1126 Queens Hwy, Long Beach, CA 90802 - www.queenmary.com/index.php?page=sundaybrunch
10. Porto’s Bakery – get the potato ball, you will be addicted at first bite!
315 N Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA - (818) 956-5996 - www.portosbakery.com
